HANDOUT FOR TOY PROJECT
Task: Part 1
Congratulations! You have been hired as a toy engineer on the OCEAN KNOLL DESIGN SQUAD! You are going to apply your skills in science to the fun of making toys! Your first task is to create a toy for the Ocean Knoll Toy Factory. The toy needs to be powered by a battery. Even toys require a lot of engineering!
Part 2: Advertise the Toy
4. Type two paragraphs.
First Paragraph- Tell the buyer why your toy is so great. Why should someone buy your toy? Give at least three reasons and add details.
Second Paragraph- Describe explicitly how your toy works. Imagine you are describing your toy to someone who can’t see your toy.
5. Design and include a logo and include a drawing/design.
6. Include the price of your toy. Must be realistic. $19.99 on Sale!

- You will create an advertisement for your toy. The individual parts can be done separately, then glued to your poser or trifold presentation board.
- Draw a diagram of your toy and label all materials and parts used. (Make sure to use ruler on all diagrams)
- Draw a Symbol Diagram of the circuit and label all of the following vocabulary:
- Battery
- Conductor
- Insulator
- Switch
- Motor
- Electric Current (show flow of energy through your circuit, use arrows)
- Simple Circuit
- Optional: light, propeller, etc

- Remember, successful logos help to grab the customer's attention and make them want your product/toy! Here are some examples of familiar logos: Nike Swish. Eat Fresh (Subway). Happiest Place on Earth (Disney Land), to infinity and beyond (Buzz Light Year), Taste the Rainbow (Skittles)
- Example: If you build a toy boat and name it Sonic Ship.
