Introduction:
Have you ever wished you could be somebody else for the day? I know I sure have. Sometimes it is fun to imagine what life would be like if you lived during a different time period, were a different gender, or of a different ethnicity. Imagine that it is 1848 and you have just heard the news that Gold has been discovered at Sutter's Mill in California. You decide that you want to strike it rich, so you pack up your belongings and head to the Golden State. However, once you arrive, you realize that it is not as easy to find large amounts of gold as you thought it would be, and that conditions in the mining fields are not at all ideal. In addition, if you are female or a minority, conditions are even tougher for you as you attempt to overcome the many prejudices faced daily.
