Central Idea: Similar values appear in various cultural stories.
Who has read Cinderella? Who has seen the movie? I will always remember how the ordinary pumpkin turned into a magical and whimsical carriage to carry Cinderella to the ball with just the tap of a wand. However, did you know that there are other CInderella Stories? There are actual multiple versions of the Cinderella tale! Get ready fourth graders because we are about to embark on an exciting journey exploring the different Cinderella stories told by different countries and cultures. In this Cinderella WebQuest, we will explore the IB theme, How We Express Ourselves. Remember the different versions of the tale will reflect different cultures. As you read, carefully look at and question the culture that is revealed through things like characters, dialogue, music, language, clothes, celebration, values and etc.
Different Versions from Different Cultures:
Part 3: Cinderella iMovie Trailer
Objective: To display the cultural elements of a Cinderella story from another country in the form of an iMovie trailer with a group.
- Light! Cameras! Action! After reading the different Cinderella stories, you will create a trailer for your favorite Cinderella story. There will be six groups and each group will choose a different story to showcase.
- All important characters (Cinderella, Godmother, Bullies, Prince)
- Cultural Elements
- Magical Element (example: slipper, talking bird, etc.)
- Solution to the Problem
- Extra Credit: IB attitude
